Meriwether's Retreat Bed & Breakfast

Meriwether's Retreat Bed & Breakfast

ocated in the historic Swiss/German village of Hohenwald, Tennessee, Meriwether’s Retreat Bed & Breakfast is a family-owned and operated inn, catering to the discerning traveler. Our inn is named after the legendary explorer, Meriwether Lewis, who is buried a few miles outside of town inside the national park that bears his name. It is also the location where he died mysteriously at the Grinder’s Inn on October 11th, 1809. At MR, we have only one mission: we want to provide our guests with the old-fashioned customer service of yesteryear, cozy accommodations, and fresh, homemade fare that you won’t soon forget. Our little town is special and we have lots of things to do and see. If you love nature, we have wonderful places to hike and explore. Because we’re only one block from Main Street, you can reach most anywhere by foot: The Discovery Center walking path, a host of restaurants, antiques and junk stores, The Elephant Sanctuary Discovery Center, a natural history museum, a county museum, shopping, parks, the historic Depot that houses Lewis County’s Chamber of Commerce and terrific shopping, the library, Powers Grocery, the post office, the outdoor event stage, and many more. We welcome you to Hohenwald where you’ll experience down-home folks and a whole lot of Southern charm. We look forward to hosting you and sharing our little town in middle Tennessee. As we say here in Hohenwald, “If you ever wear out one pair of shoes, you’ll never leave.” Please note: Our facility strives to maintain a high level of cleanliness for our clientele. As such, our suites are available to adult clients only. We do not allow children, pets, and we are a smoke-free facility.
